Tim McGraw Bails on Denzel Washington Film "Safe House"
Country hero Tim McGraw has withdrawn from Safe House, a C.I.A. thriller set to star Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. McGraw said he had to back out because the film's shooting schedule kept getting pushed back and eventually encroached on his tour schedule. The singer couldn't cancel his tour dates without taking a financial hit, so he instead elected to split from the film. "We would have had to move 28 shows," McGraw told Chicago radio station U99. "The numbers for what they would pay me to do this movie, and the numbers for what I would make and what it would cost to do 28 shows were no where in the same ballpark. So, I had to back out of the movie; times are tough, man!"
You can catch McGraw via Netflix in The Blind Side and Country Strong or see him in theaters in Dirty Girl this Summer.

Denzel Washington Filming Causes Stir In A South African City
JOHANNESBURG — a movie starring Denzel Washington was a little too thrilling for a Cape Town neighborhood that has experienced gang violence.Callers to talk radio Tuesday said they feared gang fights had returned to the township when they heard the sounds of automatic gunfire overnight.
Adam Merims and Genevieve Hofmyer, producers of the crime thriller “Safe House,” issued a statement apologizing “for any inconvenience or negative effect.”
Denis Lillie, head of the Cape Film Commission, said the producers had been authorized to film a sequence involving car chases and the firing of blanks, and had informed residents in the immediate neighborhood. But he said the sound carried further than expected.
“The economic benefits and the profile that it gives to Cape Town is … astounding,” Lillie said, saying occasional disruptions due to filming is “something that we’re going to have to get used to.”
Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta are pictured looking content in love and life on their return to Italy – a place that holds many happy married memories for them – for a romance-filled break. After 27 years of marriage they seem to know exactly what suits them as a couple.
And in the summer it's a simple recipe – sunshine, the occasional glass of rosé and Portofino, a picturesque jewel of a village that juts into the Mediterranean.
By day the Washingtons relaxed on a luxury yacht moored a few miles out to sea and by night they wandered out to dine, without any airs or graces, among the locals.
Their vacation wasn't strictly a 'date week' as at least one of their four children – John, who's nearly 26, Katia, 22, and 19-year-old twins Malcolm and Olivia - were with them.

Washington and the cast and crew of the thriller "Safe House" were filming in Cape Town on Tuesday when callers to talk radio said they feared gang fights had returned to the township because they had heard sounds of automatic gunfire overnight.
It turns out the noise they heard stemmed from the movie's car chases and the firing of blanks. Adam Merims and Genevieve Hofmyer, producers of the CIA crime thriller due out in 2012, issued a statement apologizing "for any inconvenience or negative effect.''
Denis Lillie, head of the Cape Film Commission, said the producers had been authorized to film the sequence in the neighborhood, and had informed residents. But he said the sound carried farther than expected.
"The economic benefits and the profile that it gives to Cape Town is ... astounding,'' Lillie said of the movie, adding that occasional disruptions due to filming is "something that we're going to have to get used to.''
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the movie centers on a CIA safe house destroyed by villains and efforts to move its occupant to another secure location. It also stars Ryan Reynolds and Brendan Gleeson.
